WWF, the global conservation organization, today announced a partnership with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts (Fairmont), an environmentally progressive hospitality company, to combat climate change. At the heart of this new partnership, WWF and Fairmont will work closely over the coming months to measure the hotel group’s current CO2 footprint according to UN protocol, set a world-class CO2 reduction target by June 2008, thereby becoming a member of WWF’s global Climate Savers program, and develop a Fairmont-wide emission reduction plan.

Small pottery shops can be found all over Italy. When I visited Caltagirone, known as the capital of Sicilian pottery, pottery was everywhere. The steps in the heart of the city had pottery tiles embedded in them. There must have been 100 steps each with their own unique tiles. The dome of the church was made of pottery. The bridge had scenes depicted in pottery tiles. Houses had pottery sitting in the windows.

The environmental cost of imported foodstuffs used in restaurants is much higher than previously thought, with cheaper meals carrying higher carbon footprints, according to a study by the University of Nottingham.
The study surveyed 40 restaurants in London to test knowledge of local goods as well as the environmental footprint of imported produce. The results revealed that the CO2 produced from restaurant meals based on imported ingredients from outside the EU is in fact "more than a hundred times higher than that of ingredients produced in Britain".

Berlin. Wow. This city moved me. It made me think, laugh, cry, and thank God that I was not around during any of the world wars. I think that as an American, we have been sheltered from some of the most horrific – as well as important- events in the world. Today I spent on a free walking tour offered by New Berlin. ( www.newberlintours.com) We visited all the important places in Berlin’s tormented history. My whole life I’ve dreamed of letting 99 red balloons go free at the Brandenburg Gate, but instead of doing that, I stood in awe of this amazing structure.
