Argentina Named as a Top Destination for Riders

The magazine Horse and Hound, in Britain, named Argentina as one of the best places to go riding for the upcoming summer (here winter) holidays.They highlight the riding vacations of Adrian Dangar, whose company is called Wild and Exotic and operates throughout the world.Dangar notes that there is growing interest in horse riding in South America and particularly in Patagonia. To meet this demand, he arranges rides across Argentina as well as across the Andes and is thinking of expanding into Brazil.In his vacation packages, tourists experience the range of life in Argentina, from a luxury hotel in Buenos Aires to camping in the Andes.

Manu Ginobili, basketball star of the San Antonio Spurs, has been chosen to carry Argentina’s flag in the opening ceremonies of this year’s Olympics in Beijing.This decision comes in the midst of controversy about whether or not Ginobili will be well enough to play.His ankle, which he injured in the NBA playoffs, is still not healed completely.A member of Argentina’s gold medal team from 2004, Ginobili is clearly beloved here and posters of him are all over the city right now as part of a Nike advertising campaign.Everyone hopes that he will be able to play and no one is sure who might replace him, if he is ultimately unable to suit up.

MadridCine leads up to Argentine Independence Day

From today until July 9th, Buenos Aires will be hosting a film festival of Spanish films that often do not find space to play in the crowded Spanish film circuit.According to Yahoo Argentina, the festival is a way for the two nations to show their strong, though complex, ties.The relationship between Argentina and Spain is particularly interesting at the moment, as Spain has established controversial new immigration laws and Argentina is about to remember the day it was finally free of Spanish colonialism.In addition to the films, there will also be a delegation from the Spanish film industry coming to meet with Argentine cinema specialists.These important figures in world film will attend the opening of festival at the Sheraton Hotel.The films will be shown in two cinemas: Complejo Atlas Patio Bullrich and the micro-cinema of the Escuela Nacional de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica (ENERC).

An exhibit entitled “Julio Cortázar:The Infinite Journey” will be on display until December in Cervantes Institute of Tokyo, Japan.According to La Nación, the exhibit consists of photographs, texts, and audiovisual productions that allow the visitors to experience the world from Cortázar’s perspective.One of the great Argentine writers, Cortázar loved to travel and he kept a record of his travels and his thoughts through photography and writing.The Argentine minister to Japan is very pleased that the exhibition is showing in Tokyo.Argentine’s already know thatCortázar was a revolutionary writer, and this exhibit shows that he is one of the great writers of any nation, deserving attention from people from all places.Now making its way around the world, the exhibit in Tokyo is a smaller version of an exhibit that originated in Paris.

On July 6th, Cordoba will celebrate its 435th anniversary of its founding with a guided tour of the city’s five greatest sites.According to Latitude 2000, these sites were selected by members of La Voz del Interior (the newspaper) and the Cordoba Tourism Agency.The winners were the Iglesia de la Padres Capuchinos, the Palacio Martín Ferreyra, the Cañada, the Catedral, and Manzana Jesuitica.The tour will begin at 11 at the Iglesia and end at 7 at the Manzana Jesuitica.For those able to attend, the journey from site to site will be an excellent way to think about the city’s rich and long history.And for tourists unfamiliar with Cordoba, it will be an opportunity to known the city among people who are proud to be from it.
