Starting tomorrow, TAM is offering a new direct flight from Buenos Aires to Brasilia.According to their press release, they will run one flight from Buenos Aires to Brasilia and one return flight each day.The flights will be in an Airbus A320 aircraft, which will be set up with economy and business class.Surprisingly, this will become the only non-stop flight connecting these two major Latin American capitals.Not only does the new flight facilitate business between the capitals, it also helps people coming from Buenos Aires who want to make connections with many of TAM’s northbound flights.TAM is also restarting flights between Curitiba—also in Brazil—and Buenos Aires.

Lionel Messi is one of the best soccer players in the world and he is caught between his club team, Barcelona, and his country’s Olympic team. Barcelona has been unwilling to release Messi for the games and eventually FIFA was forced to rule that Messi had to be released for the Olympics. Now, however, the tables have turned again.According to Reuters, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), to which Barcelona appealed FIFA’s decision, said that Barcelona, in fact, does not have to release Messi. Now it is up to Messi to decide if he will defy his team and stay with the Argentine Olympic team. It is still possible that Barcelona will release him at last, but they have fought so long to prevent it that that outcome seems unlikely.

The iPhone 3G, will be launched by Claro and Movistar in Argentina on August 22nd.The iPhone was made available to people in the United States and twenty other countries on July 11th, but Latin America had to wait.According to La Nación, that wait is over and Movistar will be announcing the details of its monthly plan for the iPhone in the next few days. Both companies are expecting there to be a high demand for the phone; the first weekend of sales after July 11th, the new iPhone 3G sold a million units.To facilitate the purchase of the iPhone and answer any questions, Claro and Movistar have information available on their websites.

Yesterday, the famous Tren de las Nubes, which has been closed for three years, reopened in the province of Salta. Peaking at 4,200 meters, the Tren de las Nubes has one of the highest tracks in the world and runs from Salta to Chile, rising high into the Andes as it travels.Its total route covers 434 kilometers, going over 29 bridges and 13 viaducts, through 21 tunnels and 2 zigzags, and around 2 impressive curves.According to the Clarín, the train will begin running with five train cars:two for passengers, one for dining, and one as an infirmary.This will continue for the first month as any final kinks are worked out, then the train will begin to run at full capacity.Visitors to Salta should rejoice that this historic train and its beautiful views are once again available to be enjoyed.

The non-profit opera organization Juventus Lyrica opens their performance of The Barber of Seville in the Teatro Avenida on Avenida de Mayo.The opera is by Gioacchino Rossini and opened for the first time in Rome in 1816.The story follows the character of Figaro, the barber of Seville, who ends up orchestrating a romance between Rosina and Count Almavida.This opera is one of the most well known in the world and has entertained audiences for nearly 200 years.According to My Buenos Aires Travel Guide, the performances will be on two successive weekends:August 29th and 31st and September 4th, 5th, and 6th.Tickets are available at the theater or via Entrada Plus.
