Celaya is located in the southeast quadrant of the state of Guanajuato and it is the third most populous city in the state. The city of Celaya is an important road and rail junction. It is the center of a rich agricultural region and its industries include textiles, flour milling, and tanning, and the city also has distilleries. The city of Celaya has several baroque churches designed by the architect Francisco de Tresguerras who was born here.
