Yesterday was International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, sponsored by the United Nations’ Office on Drugs and Crime.According to the Argentine government, they are promoting awareness about this day and the problem of drugs and drug trafficking by hosting a series of events for children and adolescents.These educational programs, entitled “No me hace falta” or “I don’t need it,” focused on reminding youth that they have outlets other than drugs and showing them the consequences of drug use.The programs have run all week and will continue this Saturday, when 500 children, their parents, and various community representatives will come together in Mataderos to recognize this day and its importance to Argentines.
