The main train station in Florence, Italy is also known as Santa Maria Novella, I am assuming this is because it is located right behind the church of the same name.
The train station is located on the fringe of the historic center of the city. It is an easy walk to many of the hotels, however, if you are staying in a hotel near the Duomo, the Uffizi or the Ponte Vecchio and have luggage you may need to take a taxi. Without luggage you can easily walk to the Duomo and Uffizi. I find it difficult to roll luggage for a long distance on cobblestone streets.

The best way to experience a new place and culture is to listen to the amazing stories of the locals. In Hawaii, residents are extremely passionate about their homes, praising the land, the sea, and everything in between that makes them love living there. I stumbled upon a trove of wonderful accounts of the islands on GoHawaii.com called Stories of Hawaii.

The Via Veneto was made famous in Fellini’s film “La Dolce Vitaâ€. The Via Veneto came to symbolize the “sweet life†of Rome in the 1950’s and 60’s. Today it isthe long winding street knownfor its luxury hotels, cafès, restaurants, shops and in some key places wild traffic.
I love the Via Veneto. Dr. Seuss wrote a book “And to Think I Saw it on Mulberry Streetâ€. That is the way I feel about the Via Veneto. Sit in a café on the Via Veneto long enough and you will see enough to fill your travel journal. Italian business men wander by in their designer suits with their jackets swung casually over their shoulders, elderly men and women stop by and order strange looking drinks (no ice please!), tourists zoom by rushing to the next Roman ruin on their “to do†list, vespas almost hit pedestrians, taxi drivers shout at other drivers and pedestriansand all up and down the street people are talking to each other as if they are about to burst with all they have to say.
