You cannot escape wine in Mendoza at any time of the year, but least of all during harvest and the festival of Vendimia. Held the second weekend of March (with around a monthâ€™s worth of activities running up to it), Fiesta de la Vendimia is a huge attraction for both locals and tourists.

National Trust names Dozen Distinctive Destinations for 2010

Travelers in search of umbrella drinks on warm beaches have plenty of appealing options across the USA. For those looking for a different type of trip, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has just released its 2010 Dozen Distinctive Destinations list, highlighting "cultural and recreational experiences different from those found at the typical vacation destination."

With an emphasis on places that combine vibrant street life and a well-preserved past, this year's list is more than just charming small towns with gallery-strewn streets – though there are plenty of those. St. Louis is singled out for its historic neighborhoods, and Huntsville, Ala., for its combination of southern tradition and thriving aerospace industry.

Mljet Island Video

Mošćenice and Moscenicka Draga

Mošćenice is medieval fortified town , located on a steep cliff beneath the Mountain Učka, with its ancient walls and narrow stone streets. The town has changed many owners throughout its tumultuous history, but has survived all challenges and has remained preserved until today. Mošćenice can only be entered through one gate, over which the Habsburg coat of arms is engraved. The houses are so compressed that the town does not have one square. The most dominating monument is the Church of St Andrew the Apostle.
