The musical Aida was performed in Buenos Aires Friday and Saturday night this weekend.The musical was written by Elton John and Tim Rice and premiered on Broadway in 2000.Originally an opera, John and Rice adapted the work of Giuseppe Verdi by using a variety of musical styles including reggae, Motown, pop, and gospel.There are a total of 22 musical themes over two acts, performed by 45 artists and 12 musicians.Unlike many theatrical performances in Buenos Aires—like the currently running Rent—this musical was performed in the original English, with Spanish subtitles.
