California: Big Sur area vacation spots remain open

Big Sur area hotels, attractions and restaurants are still open while firefighters continue to work on containing the Basin Complex Fire.  Some California State parks remain closed. As of July 1, 2008, the majority of the fire continues to burn in a remote area of the Ventana Wilderness, 45 minutes drive south of Monterey, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Residents and visitors can access the iconic Big Sur stretch of California coastline via Highway 1 from Carmel.

California Dreamin’…of Hawaii

As great as southern California is, sometimes I’ve just got to get away. My favorite get-away is Hawaii, there’s no place better to unwind and enjoy paradise. It’s a totally easy flight, and in no time I’m laying on a beach, whale watching, trying out a surfboard, driving up a mountain or watching a gorgeous sunset. It’s such a relaxed, beautiful, healing place. Every time I’ve been there I can’t wait to go back. Like now.

Cruise, wine and spa week in N. California Wine Country

Day 1 - CRUISE FROM SAN FRANCISCO: You’ll be welcomed aboard with a flute of Champagne and toast as we cruise to the backdrop of San Francisco’s skyline. Dinner on board the ship. Day 2 - THE NAPA VALLEY EXPERIENCE :Explore Napa Valley, by wine tasting, shopping and then a 3 course lunch in Clos Pegase’s cave theatre, followed by a tour and wine tasting.
