The long protest between the 1.2 billion dollar pulp mill belonging to Finland’s Botnia and the people in Argentina who live across the river from it may be drawing to a conclusion. The mill is in Uruguay on the Paraná River and the Argentines who live across from it have argued that it is polluting their river and their lives.According to MercoPress, Foreign Affairs minister Gonzalo Fernandez of Uruguay said that he had had a meeting with President Cristina Kirchner in which she said that they would begin taking action to remove the picketers and road bocks. However, it is not clear if the Argentine environmental groups in the region agree with Kirchner’s statement. As it is, this issue continues to be a wedge between Uruguay and Argentina.

While Argentina is known for its red wines, particularly Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, the nation is starting to develop a reputation abroad for having good white wines as well.According to The Edge, Torrontes is the new Argentine white wine to look out for, especially now that it is summer in the northern hemisphere.Torrontes is excellent for the heat, with a refreshing taste as all as full fruit flavors.Unlike the reds that are mostly grown in the Mendoza area, Torrontes comes mainly from northern Salta, a province in the north of the country. The magazine recommends two particular Torrontes:that of Crios de Susana Balbo and that of Don Rodolfo, both from 2006 and available for less than 20 dollars a bottle.

Our driver will pick us up and take us to the Ritz Carlton to enjoy some late breakfast or early lunch or a glass of Champagne, also here we can drop some of our clothing that we will not need in Atacama. We have a flight to Calama at 355pm from Santiago airport, so probably we will depart the Ritz around 130pm.
