Folk Group Pachamama Releases New Album

This Saturday, the folk music group Pachamama will perform their new album, “Pasos,” for an audience in Neuquén.No doubt most of the concert goers will already be familiar with this well known folk band’s style, but the band claims they have some new sounds up their sleeves for this album.They are singing songs in Sanskrit, Aymara, and Mapuche as well as in Spanish. According to Diario Río Negro, Pachamama is a sextet of musicians that has been playing together for many years; in 2005 their album “En vivo” was nominated for one of the Premios Gardel. The group’s name, Pachamama, represents their commitment to protect and celebrate the earth, which gives them “bread, milk, and a place to make a home in their world.”Their show begins at 9:30 in the Cine Teatro Español.

The Argentine quintet Tangoloco is performing in Buenos Aires every Saturday this coming August.Just back from their international tour, the group will perform songs from their new album “Rock 24.”On this album, Tangoloco makes tango music from national rock classics, fusing some of the best of Argentine music to make a unique new sound.They will also perform a set of Beatles songs redone as tango, called “Tangos de Liverpool.”Tickets can be bought at the café where they will perform (Velma Café on Gorriti 5520) or at Ticketek.They cost 45 to 50 pesos and tickets for this Saturday are already beginning to sell out!

Hit Pop Group Teen Angels Goes on World Tour

Photographs of them are already up all around the city of Buenos Aires, promoting their show at the Gran Rex Theater, and now the hit group Teen Angels is taking their success global on a world tour.According to Reuters, the band was originally the fictional pop group on the television show “Casi Angeles,” (“Almost Angels”).In the show, a group of five orphans gets together to make a band, an experience that helps them overcome their own personal dilemmas.The show has been a huge hit in Argentina and an estimated 1.4 million people watch it every night.Now, it is going to be aired on the Disney Channel throughout Latin America.The Teen Angels World Tour will go to Israel and Mexico, where the show is already popular and has been played on Nickelodeon.
