Yamana Gold Inc. has announced that they will be expanding the lower west deposit of their gold mining site, Quebrada Del Diablo, which is part of its Gualcamayo project.Gualcamayo is located in the San Juan province of Argentina, a province just north of Mendoza which also borders Chile. According to Forbes, Yamana is expanding the mine because they believe that the reserves of gold there are larger than they thought. If all goes well, the mine should be producing 300,000 ounces of gold per year by the year 2010. In today’s world of fluctuating currencies and uncertainty, gold is one of the few truly stable, reliable commodities.
