Google Maps Have Arrived

Until November, Argentina was nothing more than a gray blob at the tip of South America- according to Google Maps that is.  Clarin Maps was slow, comovieja.com was impossible to understand and so we waited with Guia-T in hand.  Google set up their Argentine office in Puerto Madero earlier this year, bringing promises of satellite photos, street names and all the ease of the Google interface. While the maps have arrived, we are still awaiting directions or “ruteos” and restaurant and business listings.   But considering the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, the more maps the merrier!

Biochemists working in La Plata, Argentina claim that they have developed a low-fat and low-sodium hamburger that tastes just as good as the hamburgers the world knows and loves.Great news for dieting lovers of the double-decker?Perhaps, as Argentines certainly know their beef.According to Argentina’s Center for Research and Development in Food Cryotechnology, the beef fat has been replaced with sunflower oil, omega-3 fatty acids and phytosterols and the taste remains the same.The researchers are now looking for a company to mass produce these new, healthier burgers, so perhaps they will be in a supermarket near you sooner rather than later.

New Orleans and Berlin - What They Have in Common

On August 13, 1961 the Berlin Wall went up to separate East Berlin from West Berlin during Russian occupation of Germany after the WWII. We all know the stories of families torn apart because of the wall and how their country got out of sync with itself because of this separation.
