Tomorrow is the anniversary of Carlos Gardel’s death, and to celebrate him the Ministry of Culture sponsored an event yesterday at the Feria de Mataderos.In addition to the usual bustle of gaucho wares and artesanias, Javier “Cardenal†DomÃnguez and the group Las del Abasto played at 3pm and there were also tango shows.Carlos Gardel, perhaps the most influential person in the history of tango, died at the height of his career in an airplane crash in 1935.A tragic hero to Latin Americans but especially Argentines, his death day is a time to remember his incredible contribution to Argentina’s most internationally acclaimed form of music and dance.
