As the ski season draws to a close, business people in Bariloche are considering how they can increase Brazilian tourism in the future.Snow, a commodity that Bariloche has in spades and Brazil lacks entirely, is a huge tourism draw, and with a new flight connecting Bariloche to Sao Paulo, the tourism industry wants to know how they can tap that market winter and summer.According to ANBariloche, the travel agency Barlan Travel organized a series of meetings between important groups in the tourism industry to discuss freeing Bariloche from season stereotyping. They suggest the possibility of golf tourism, gourmet dining, adventure tourism, and corporate event/retreat tourism. All of these could bring Bariloche big business, and they would keep Bariloche on the map no matter what time of year.

Beginning in November, LAN Argentina will add three more weekly flights from Buenos Aires to Rio Gallegos, a city in Patagonia.LAN Argentina and the Patagonian Santa Cruz government have agreed to this increase in flights for a sex month trial period, during which time they will see if there is enough demand for the flights.According to Mercopress, LAN Argentina has been aggressively adding routes in the face of Aerolineas Argentinas’ recent problems.Currently, LAN Argentina has three daily flights to Iguazu Falls, three to Bariloche, five to Cordoba, and three to Mendoza, as well as flights to Salta.Soon, they will fly a total of four times a week to Rio Gallegos, increasing the number of tourists who have access to the region and, hopefully, benefitting all.

British Airways, which already has four flights a week to Buenos Aires, is upping their weekly offerings by three flights. From now on, they will offer one flight a day every day from London’s Heathrow Airport to Buenos Aires, with a stop in between in Sao Paolo.According to Cheap Tickets, this service will be in competition with Argentina’s own airline, Aerolineas Argentinas. However, officials within Argentina say that any expansion will be welcomed with open arms. The demand, they say, is high enough that there is room for multiple carriers and any increase in flights by British Airways is simply another way to keep tourism growing.
