The jazz artist Esmeralda Spalding is promoting her latest album and performing in Neuquén on October 28th.From the United States, Spalding was born in Oregon, where she taught herself to play the violin, and is only 23 years. According to the Diario Río Negro, she is already a recognized talent in the jazz world as a singer, double-base player, and composer of much of her own music.Her newest album is entitled “Esperanza,” (“Hope”) and is being released two years after her first album, “Junjo.”She will perform many new songs from the album, including a Latin version of “Body and Soul,” at the Teatro Español de Neuquén where she will be accompanied by Leo Genovese on piano, Pablo Ito on drums, y Ricardo Voight on guitar.

Dancing Mood, performing tomorrow in Buenos Aires, is a band that transforms jazz standards into danceable ska and reggae versions.The group was started in 2000 by trumpet player Hugo Lobo, who had a lot of experience performing with big bands.He drew together various performers, creating a core of seven musicians that is supported by a changing arsenal of players.They have made 5 records thus far, including a compellation of their greatest hits.For this performance, Dancing Mood with play with an orchestra of over 70 musicians! According to the official website, Dancing Mood has already performed this month in Rosario and Cordoba.The concert takes place at Luna Park and begins at 9pm; tickets on sale at the venue.

The 22nd Atlantic Jazz Festival began on July 11th in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was opened by Argentina’s Orquesta Tipica Imperial.This great jazz festival, known for bringing the best in jazz together every year, is expanding to include different types of music such as avant-garde, world, pop, folk, and fusion.Tango music may not initially seem like it has a lot in common with jazz, but its roots in the experiences of every day people and its growth to a high art form give the two many similarities.According to All About Jazz, the Festival runs through the 19th and is only the first stop for the Orquesta Tipica on its first North American Tour.They will also be playing in New York and Chicago before returning to Argentina.
