Over the last eight years, the use of Spanish on the Internet has tripled, making it the fastest growing language on the web.According to the Clarín, at the end of 2007 102 million users on the Internet were Spanish speakers, representing 8.7 percent of total users. This makes Spanish the third most spoken language on the web, behind English with 366 million users and Chinese with 184 million. The survey was carried out by a telecommunications organization (ONTSI) in Spain and seems to justify decisions by companies like AOL who are expanding their services to cater to this ever-growing language market.
