The Ministry of Health in Buenos Aires held a blood draw this Tuesday at the Obelisk, the city’s major landmark in the middle of bustling 9 de Julio.June 14th was International Blood Draw Day, and Buenos Aires citizens were out in force, waiting to enter the large white tents and then sitting outside of them afterwards, eating a little to recuperate.The tent was staffed by medical professionals from various hospitals as well as by members of the Red Cross.The theme for the 2008 blood drive is “Give Blood Regularly,” a slogan that reminds us that, while we can’t always give blood somewhere as inspiring as the obelisk, people continue to need help every day.
