Final Palermo Wine Tour

Friday, November 21st, will be the last edition of the Palermo Wine Tour.  Nearly a dozen fashion and interior design stores will participate in the event, with tasters hopping from shop to shop.  Alimentactika will reprise its “jellied wines” and artist Luis Casanovas will paint a piece of artwork using the vinos sampled throughout the evening.  The wineries taking part, largely from Mendoza, are as follows: Las Perdices, Fincas Flichman, Bodegas del Desierto, Weinert, Estancia Mendoza, Nómade, Misterio, among others, and Colomé from Salta, Xumec from San Juan, and Familia Schroeder from Neuquen.  The tour will take places between El Salvador and Honduras on Malabia Street from 7-10pm.  To imbibe, wine tourists must purchase an Italian crystal glass for 45 pesos and unlimited tastings.

In this year’s Copa Petrobras, perhaps the most important Challenger Curcuit in Latin American tennis, five countries—Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay—are participating.According to Copa Petrobras’ official website, the Argentine portion of the circuit begins on October 18th at the Vilas Tennis Club in Palermo.Buenos Aires is the last stop on the circuit, as games have already been played in all the other participating countries.The qualifier games in Buenos Aires will be played on the 18th and 19th and will be free for anyone who wants to come and watch.For subsequent matches on Monday through to the finals on Sunday the 26th, tickets can be purchased at Ticketek.

Rosh Hashanah Urbano Festival in Palermo

Rosh Hashanah was celebrated in Buenos Aires this weekend with the event Rosh Hashanah Urbano.According to Yok Time, the event was Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 7 at the plaza by Costa Rica and Armenia.Rosh Hashanah is the JewishNew Year, and as Buenos Aires has an enormous Jewish population, this celebration is an important one for the city.At this year’s event there were live musical performances, including Simja Dujov and the Strudel Klezmer Band and Grupo Samaj, a variety of traditional foods, and many activities.There were even free postcards to send to any friend around the world, just to say Happy Rosh Hashanah!

Art Meets Telo in Unusual Palermo Exhibition

Right now, twenty art galleries are taking part in an exhibition in Palermo in a very unique location.From now until September 7th, a former telo, called the Pussy Cat love hotel on Paraguay 4747, will host this exhibition.Each gallery gets its own room, giving visitors a diverse artistic experience while making use of the former hotels layout.According to The Argentine Post, one of the most interesting exhibits is in room 109 and entitled “Project 109.”It is produced by the art gallery called ThisIsNotAGallery and created by well-known Argentine director Andy Fogwill. The telo is open Sunday through Thursday, 11-8pm, and Friday and Saturday, 11-9pm.

Foodies Delight:  The “Friday Night Dinner” in Palermo Viejo

I heard about the restaurant in the type of hushed whisper that is reserved for quasi-spiritual experiences like natural wonders or ghost sightings. If the nameless establishment had not been mentioned in the public domain of the web, I would swear it was part of an underground gastronomy-lovers cult that met once a week to eat dolma and kufta. However, the “Friday Night Dinner,” as it is so-called, is frequented every week by hundreds of Armenians and food lovers in a cultural center located in the heart of Palermo Viejo.
