Personal Fest Begins Friday in Buenos Aires

Personal Fest is one of the biggest music events of the year in Buenos Aires, sponsored by one of Argentina’s largest cell phone service providers.The festival last two days, Friday and Saturday, and this year big name stars like The Offspring, The Jesus & Mary ChainandSpiritualized(Friday) and R.E.M., Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party and The Mars Volta(Saturday) are performing.This is the festival’s fifth year, taking place at Club Ciudad Buenos Aires, and the advertisements for Personal Fest have dotted the city for months in advance.For true fans of the bands or for anyone looking for a way to amp up their weekend, tickets are still available at Ticket.com.ar and cost 90 pesos.

From Food to Music to Sporting Events, 87% of Respondents Indicate that Travel Involving Personal Interests Will Remain the Same or Increase Over the Next Two Years

From jetting overseas for a culinary experience to a desire to learn life-enriching skills while on vacation, travelers are intent on continuing to pursue travel experiences that allow them to indulge in their personal interests despite the softening economy, according to a recent survey of 501 U.S. adults by American Express Travel. Indeed, 87% of respondents indicated that the number of vacations involving one or more personal "passions" would either remain the same or increase over the next two years; of those, 28% indicated that they expect the number to increase.

Shopping in Buenos Aires is an adventure nearly equivalent to climbing a Patagonia peak. You need resources, a good map and if possible, a guide. The benefits of a personal shopper are various—they can find you what you want and fast, they can ward off the very pesky sales clerks who pour on the pressure and steer you to unique, authentic, high quality items.

I really wanted to buy a leather jacket but with my extra long Gumby arms and tall height, it was difficult to find a jacket that fit right. Many stores were helpful but I often felt pressured to buy something that I knew it my heart didn’t quite fit. After a tour of several stores I gave up, evidence that I am not a real shopaholic. Yet my dream of the perfect, silky soft jacket did not die, and I was running out of time. A friend suggested I go with her friend, a woman who gets paid to shop for a living thanks to her job as a wardrobe designer for Argentine commercials and films.
