Rosario is about to build the Puerto de la Música, a construction which will include a plaza where 30,000 people can gather to listen to concerts, a music school, and space for various exhibitions.The building in its scope rivals the Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires and will be unlike anything currently in Argentina or Brazil.According to La Nación, the government of Rosario is hoping that the Puerto de la Música will have the same economic impact on their city as the opening of the Guggenheim Museum did on the town of Bilbao in Spain.The building, which will look like a white snail shell, will be built on the coast of the RÃo Paraná between the Parque de la Bandera and the port.Designed by famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, the project is sure to change the face of tourism in Rosario, hopefully increasing it and drawing people from Buenos Aires to experience this new cultural phenomenon.

Puerto Madryn, a city best known for the whales that visit its shores every year, now has its first five star hotel. According to La Nación, the new Rayentray Hotel is 50 meters from the beach and has 180 rooms with direct ocean views.In total, it has 450 rooms, including suites, and also has special accommodations for presidents and governors, should any wish to come see this UNESCO World Heritage site.There are tennis courts, a dining room, a conference space that could hold up to 2,000 people—all the luxuries of a five star hotel.The project has been sixteen years in the making, plagued by delays, and is now the first of its kind in the province.The La Nación website has a video of the inauguration of the hotel that gives a small visual sample of the facilities.

The famous English architect Norman Foster is designing apartments in Buenos Aires in the expensive and ritzy barrio of Puerto Madero.According to the Clarín, he is designing Aleph Residencias, which will cost 6,000 dollars per square meter.Foster won the Henry Fellowship to study at the Yale School of Architecture and went on to found the now prestigious architectural firm Foster and Partners.Foster’s work includes the main hall of the British Museum, the Millennium Bridge over the Thames River, and Wembley Stadium. Aleph Residencias will have a grand central patio and 57 distinct apartments, with space for stores on the ground floor.According to Foster, he is seeking to find a balance between community and privacy, residency and hotel.The building joins the works of many other famous architects, situated in Puerto Madero.

This Saturday at 1 pm, Democrats Abroad Argentina organized a meeting on the Puente de la Mujer, one of the most recognizable landmarks in Puerto Madero, to participate in an international show of support for Senator Barack Obama, called “The Obama Bridge Project.â€The slogan of the event was “Yes We Span,†a spin-off of the Obama campaign’s “Yes We Can,†and the idea was to take pictures of Democrats abroad spanning the bridges of the world.According to iReport, the Buenos Aires event was held in conjunction with 4,000 other events around the world.In addition to posing for the photograph, volunteers were also on hand to help register voters for the upcoming election, a project they have been working on with the Republicans Abroad.
